What to Wear ?

December 18, 2009

5th Jun 2008

Although we hope it will not be any day soon, plans are well under way for Mrs D’s funeral.

I planted a tree in our garden a couple of weeks ago where she wants her ashes to be buried. Having dug the hole to receive the tree, I first placed therein the ashes of our last 3 dogs, together with their collars and leads, so Mrs D will have company when her time comes to leave and will not have to face the darkness alone.

We have put aside money for her wake, and selected the venue – although the format and timing has yet to be agreed.

I am of the opinion that the wake should be held BEFORE she dies – when she feels the end is finally near, we should have a party to allow her to say farewell to family and friends. Mrs D, though, is as yet undecided

Yesterday, we discussed the matter of clothing. One thing Mrs D is very clear on is that she doesn’t want to be dressed in a shroud when she’s in her coffin. If folk are coming to view her, she wants to look her best – even in death. Having examined her wardrobe, she found she had nothing suitable to wear for the occasion. (a familiar cry !!!) and spent a large part of the day on the Internet viewing fancy (expensive) evening dresses.

I too spent a large part of the day on the Internet searching for suitable clothes for Mrs D to wear in her coffin rather than a shroud. For some reason, however, she didn’t seem too impressed with the results of my own research.

    Problem easily solved….

Anita wears what she found, and you wear what you found.

That should raise a few eyebrows down at the crem!

As a new commenter to Mad Hatters, I’ve only just got round to looking at the blogs in the side bar.
This is such an awful thing to go through for both of you. Please accept our warmest thoughts and biggest hugs from myself and the MOTH (who reads MH too).
